it's easier to start than you might think


theres a lot of different ways to make viz,
so i'm going to cover just a few and
try to keep things general!

ultimately, i'd like to have tuts for:
1. editing video
2. generating video from audio [below]
3. obs feedback [see below]

i'm not the most experienced viz artist,
but i've learned thru making viz for my
own sets over the last few years,
(and just recently for others)

to demystify viz for you & get you started

OBS FEEDBACK
the simple OBS feedback technique
is extremely powerful, and free

you'll need:
OBS, some footage/images,
a video player & some hdd space
[ it uses the VIRTUAL WEBCAM ]

feedback ( how to do it )
1 . start out with OBS

2. obs has a tech called 'virtual webcam'
- output your screen to other programs!
- and also output it right back to OBS!

3. play your video in a media player

4. in obs, create a new scene
5. add a window capture source
- capture your video player

6. add a second video source
- FROM your virtual webcam
6b. configure your virtual cam
- you want 'obs virtual webcam'

7. add a filter to the webcam
- select the webcam source
- add a 'render delay' filter

8. filter the top video layer
- slap on a luma key filter
- you can see thru the vid

tada thats the very basics of it

GENERATING VIDEO FROM AUDIO
there are a few ways to do this, but as a beginner
i would suggest checking out NESTDROP--

someone made a wrapper/UI for the audio visualizer
that became the stock winamp visualizer, Milkdrop
and added some features for VJing!

Nest drop uses spout, and will let you
select from tons of bundled presets!

try using Nestdrop with OBS to make sick viz for free!
